Why can I not use a generic or role-based email address in your form?

Role-based email addresses are typically company addresses defined by a job rather than a person, and are often managed by several people or eventually fall into disuse. Role-based addresses are not the normal Matt@, John@, Jane@ email addresses, they are normally generic email addresses such as admissions@, mba@, dean@, etc.

Due to security reasons, we require that you enter your direct email address into our forms so others will not be able to gain access to your account or the confidential information we store on behalf of your institution. Generic email addresses are attacked more than most because the hackers know the domain of your institution and generic addresses are much easier to attack.

We need to ensure our email communications are sent to the correct person and role-based addresses decreases our deliverability of messages.
