How can the Ns be different for question C5 in the EMBAC Program Survey report?
Why are the Ns different in the EMBAC Program Survey Report?
When I look at question C5 how many accepted students did you lose to the following programs this year) in the EMBAC Program Survey report, I get a bit confused as to how to interpret it. The N is very clear, but how do I interpret the result? With N=114 having a result of 4.8, how can N=5 have a result of 2.0?

This occurs because this is an optional question AND a multiple-select question. For example, 4 schools reported that they lost students to 'Exec. Ed. - Non-degree Open Enrollment’ programs and the average number is 5 students between these 4 schools, whereas 114 schools reported that they lost students who did not enroll in another program, and the average number of students between these 114 schools is 4.8 students.
This is the most accurate way to display the results for this question because some schools, as in this case, did not lose accepted students to 'Exec. Ed. - Non-degree Open Enrollment’ programs and thus the N for this type of program would be different compared to another type of program, such as ‘Did not enroll’, ‘Part-time MBA’, etc.
