How is the public EMBAC Dashboard different from the previous version?
Why the EMBAC Program Survey Dashboard Is Now a Public Power BI Dashboard
The EMBAC Program Survey Dashboard is now published as a public Power BI dashboard, replacing the prior private, tenant-restricted version. This change improves accessibility while maintaining EMBAC’s confidentiality standards.
Key differences at a glance
Access and authentication
- Public version: EMBAC members no longer need a Power BI Pro license, Microsoft Authenticator, or registration in the EMBAC Entra ID directory to view the dashboard. Access is provided through the EMBAC Connected Community.
- Previous private version: Required Microsoft authentication, Power BI licensing, and directory onboarding before access was granted.
Ease of access
- Public version: Designed to reduce access friction and make it easier for members to view and explore benchmarking results.
- Previous private version: Access setup and credential management were required before members could view the dashboard.
Data visibility
- Public and private versions: Both versions include the same set of metrics and visualizations from the EMBAC Membership Program Survey.
- The move to a public dashboard did not change the data shown, only how users access and interact with it.
General limitations of public vs. private Power BI dashboards
Because the EMBAC dashboard is published as a public Power BI experience, there are a few general limitations compared to private, tenant-restricted dashboards:
- No user-specific personalization: Public dashboards do not support user-level customization, saved views, or role-based personalization.
- Restricted export and sharing options: Some export, sharing, or advanced Power BI features available in private dashboards may be limited or disabled in public versions.
- Aggregated data only: Public dashboards are designed to present aggregated, non-identifiable data and do not support program-level or user‑specific views.
- Read-only experience: Public dashboards are intended for viewing and exploration only; editing or authoring features are not available.
These limitations are standard for public Power BI dashboards and help ensure data consistency, security, and ease of access for all members.
What has not changed
- The dashboard continues to be built from the annual EMBAC Membership Program Survey, which remains the foundation for EMBAC benchmarking reports and research tools.
- Individual program data is never displayed; all results are presented in aggregate form.
- Members are still strongly encouraged to complete the annual survey to support the quality and completeness of EMBAC benchmarking insights.
