Opening the Shared Folder Link in a Private Window
I cannot access the link shared by Percept Research.
In some instances, you may encounter this error message when trying to access a file shared by our team with Microsoft Sharepoint/OneDrive "That didn't work. We're sorry, but yourname@email.com cannot be found in the perceptresearchinc-my.sharepoint.com directory."
TIP: Typically, we share files with the setting “Anyone with this link can edit.” In some cases, a file shared with “Anyone with this link can edit” prompts the user the file is being shared with to request access. If the user tries to open the file a second time, they can then access the file without requesting access.
If that tip doesn't work, opening a shared file in incognito mode typically works as this mode doesn’t use the existing cookies from your regular browser sessions. This allows you to view the file as if you were a different user or as if you weren’t signed in at all (eliminating issues if you were signed into a different Microsoft account). However, please note that this behavior might vary based on the sharing settings of the file and the policies enforced by your organization or the file owner.
Here are instructions for Opening the Shared Folder Link in a Private Window:
All popular web browsers come with a private mode. When you open a private window you start fresh without any data from sites you've logged into or visited previously. Using a private window will allow you to get past the majority of SharePoint login issues that you may experience.
Step 1: Copy the link in the SharePoint email
1) Open your web browser and login to the Outlook Web App (or your email application)
2) Open the email from SharePoint. The sender will be from no-reply@sharepointonline.com
3) Right click on the shared folder link, then click on Copy Link or Copy Link Address.
Step 2: Open a Private Web Browser Window
If using Chrome: At the top right, click the 3 vertical dots then New Incognito Window.
If using Firefox: At the top right, click the 3 horizontal lines then New Private Window.
If using Safari: In the Menu Bar click on File > New Private Window.
If using Microsoft Edge: At the top right, click on the 3 horizontal dots then New InPrivate Window.
Step 3: Paste the link into the Private Window address bar
